Dopamine is a neurotransmitter produced by our brain and adrenal glands causing a somewhat mix of satisfaction feeling and happiness.

During the evolution we obtained dopamine to encourage activities that are useful for our survival. It acts as a universal reward that's why it's usually referred to as a reward brain chemical.

It's often confused to be an achievement reward which is a likely a mistake: Dopamine is not a reward for your achievements

Dopamine plays a crucial role in:

  • Control of dedication, motivation and focus
  • Motor movement
